Giving help and support in the community is the cornerstone of FiSH.
It is a voluntary community care scheme offering help with practical tasks, support and friendship
to anyone in need in Barnes, Mortlake and East Sheen.
We welcome requests for help and urgently seek new volunteers to help us carry out the requests made for our service.
We provide:
- FiSHhelpline: 020 8876 3414. This helpline is manned on weekdays from 9.00 to 12 noon. The duty team match the request with a suitable volunteer as quickly as possible.
- Door to door help, with weekly shopping trips and outings to local attractive locations in our fully accessible minibus, which we run in partnership with Richmond & Kingston Accessible Transport. This is invaluable to housebound and frail people. We also offer transport door to door for hospital and GP visits among many other requests.
- Our minibus which is available for hire to local groups.
- FiSH busline: 020 8876 3765
- There are also many daily activities held at the Barnes Green Centre, organised by FiSH and Age Concern who run the Centre on a daily basis.
- FiSH 'n' Chats is our social listening project where trained volunteers listen to people who call in for a confidential chat on a one-to-one basis.
